Jr. Photographer

Do you love working with kids and have a ton of energy? We’re currently taking applications to join the ColorPop Portraits crew as a Junior Photographer for the Spring 2025 season. If the following sounds like you, and you’re curious about taking on some seasonal, part-time work that feels more like a 4-year-old’s birthday party than a job, apply today!

Position Purpose

As a junior photographer, you'll be trained to manage picture day events the ColorPop way with the intention of being promoted to team lead.

In this position you'll learn:

  • To operate the camera and lighting equipment according to our brand standards

  • To manage an efficient picture day workflow while engaging with each child personally

  • To trouble-shoot equipment

  • To interface with clients appropriately to build and maintain meaningful relationships

Responsibilities

  • Be a joyful picture day photographer for preschools and early childhood education centers.

  • Interface with school staff in a professional manner (even when things get a little chaotic because babies are crying and someone’s toddler just sneezed on your leg)

  • Follow artistic direction that extends the continuity of the ColorPop Portraits portfolio and aligns with our brand standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • a love of young children

  • experience as a portrait photographer general understanding of DSLR and/or Mirrorless camera systems (experience with studio lighting is a plus, but not required.)

  • physically capable of doing a TON of squats while smiling (this is a physical job!)

  • early morning availability

  • reliable transportation to travel around Northeast Ohio

  • 2-3 references that speak to customer service skills and and ability handle yourself with professionalism and grace even when things get a little chaotic

  • This position travels to picture day events across Northeast Ohio north-to-south from Cleveland to Canton, and east-to west from North Canton to Medina. Mileage reimbursement is available. 

    Shifts are generally between 7:30am-12:30pm Tuesdays through Fridays, but can vary based on each school's requirements. 

  • Junior Photographers are paid $14/hour during their training period. Team Leads are paid $19/hr + commission.

Photography Intern

Are you studying commercial photography or exploring a career working with young children? Join our team as a Photography Intern for the Spring 2025 season.

Interning with ColorPop Portraits provides practical experience with young children and insight into the daily life of early childhood educators. You'll also become familiar the operation of a commercial photography studio, learning studio lighting techniques, camera use, and how to build meaningful client relationships.

Position Purpose

As a photography intern, you'll spend approximately 10 weeks accompanying a ColorPop Photographer to picture day events across Northeast Ohio where together you’ll create beautiful portraits for families to swoon over.

As a photography intern you’ll…

  • Assist the photographer in setting up and tearing down camera and lighting equipment

  • Check students in for their portrait session

  • Help children strike poses that are flattering and playful

  • Assist the photographer in managing the workflow to ensure adherence to the daily schedule

Qualifications & Requirements

  • a love of young children

  • currently be studying commercial photography, early childhood education, or other related field

  • physically capable of doing a TON of squats while smiling (this is a physical job!)

  • early morning availability

  • reliable transportation to travel around Northeast Ohio

  • 2-3 references that speak to your work ethic and ability handle yourself with professionalism attentiveness

  • Commit to 5-12 hours per week for 10 weeks during the spring or fall semester.

Photography Interns may be eligible for promotion to Junior Photographer after completing the internship and meeting certain requirements.

  • You can expect shifts to be scheduled twice a week, Tuesday through Friday, beginning at 7am, and ending around noon.

    Variations in the schedule may happen based on our clients’ requirements.

  • Interns are paid $14/hr in addition to earning credit toward your educational program.

  • Based on your performance during the internship period, you may have the opportunity to join the ColorPop Crew permanently as a Junior Photographer, or in another capacity based on your qualifications and skill, after the conclusion of your internship.

Marketing Intern

Are you studying communications, marketing, social media management or graphic design? Join our team as a Marketing Intern for the Spring 2025 season.

Working with ColorPop Portraits as a marketing intern will provide practical experience expanding the brand awareness and marketing strategy of a growing small business.

Position Purpose

As the ColorPop Portraits marketing intern, you’ll spend approximately 10 weeks documenting a behind-the-scenes look at our team, creating advertising collateral, and helping expand the social media presence for the brand.

As the marketing intern, you’ll…

  • utilize applications like Canva and Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to create digital and print-ready marketing materials for a variety of uses

  • follow predetermined brand guidelines and templates

  • participate in marketing meetings to explore opportunities to engage both potential clients and existing customers

  • work with the Leadership Team to develop and implement a marketing calendar

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Currently be studying or working toward a career in marketing, advertising, communications, social media management or related fields

  • Have experience with Canva and Adobe programs Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

  • Be familiar with social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok

  • Have reliable transportation to travel around Stark and Summit Counties as needed

  • Commit to 10 hours per week for 10 weeks during the spring semester.

Marketing Interns may be eligible for long-term contracted relationship after completing the internship and meeting certain requirements.

  • The marketing intern’s hours are more flexible than the photography intern’s hours and can easily be tailored to fit your class/work schedule. You’ll be expected to commit 10 hours per week to this position.

  • Interns are paid $14/hr in addition to earning credit toward your educational program.

  • Based on your performance during the internship period, you may have the opportunity to continue working with the ColorPop Crew as a contracted marketing professional based on your qualifications and skill.
